The New and International Related in Berlin
Tourism is one of Related’s core areas - something we have emphasized with our new international name and focus. Therefore, we did not hesitate to join the rest of the world in Berlin for the annual ITB exhibition. The fair featured many positive experiences, but also a negative one viewed from a national perspective.

With well in excess of 113,000 visitors, almost 11,000 participants, and 7,000 journalists, ITB is a mecca for tourism networking and relationship management. And that was exactly what Related spent our four days in Berlin focusing on – a task, which has become easier owing to the new company name and a sharper international focus.

We attended meetings with peers and prospects. On these business meetings, the new relations got a clear impression of what we can offer a travel destination: a safe and thorough exposure in the Nordic and European market.

This is what ITB 2011 looked like.

Tourism Trademark
Besides working with new business, we also had time to nurture existing relationships. For several years, Related has been a member of the global tourism network Tourism Trademark, an organization of communications and marketing agencies from around the world. Four times each year - including at the ITB - we meet and discuss new opportunities, customers, and experiences.

Denmark lacks a sharper brand
Although the ITB Berlin was a successful as usual, there was one disappointing experience. VisitDenmark’s booth has not changed much since last year, and is still trying to promote Denmark on Lolland-Falster, SAS, Møn, etc.

The fact that Denmark does not have a stronger and more unified brand (for instance Tivoli, The Little Mermaid, LegoLand) at the world's largest travel fair is unfortunately a headshaking realization - and it is especially disappointing to see that there has not been the slightest improvement from last year’s fair.

We hope this will be better at ITB 2013.
