Related sent journalists on a boat trip
Journalists from eight of Denmark's largest newspapers and magazines have just returned from a press trip to the Croatian Archipelago. The trip was organized by Related in collaboration with Sunway Seatravel to bring to focus an emerging travel trend among Danes; sailing holiday in Croatia with a private skipper.

Although the calendar showed autumn, temperatures in Croatia were above 20 degrees, and the journalists had optimal conditions to absorb impressions during the three-day press trip in the area around Split. The route included boat trips to the islands of Hvar, Brac, Solta, View and Bisevo - all of which contain beautiful towns bordered by the Mediterranean turquoise waves.

The highlights of the trip included an excursion to The Blue Grotto near Bisevo and a guided tour in the old town of Hvar, where the city's old castle offered a great look of the whole area.

Press trips create inspiration
Sending journalists on a trip collectively is a requested PR initiative - especially among tourist destinations.

First and foremost, a press trip creates a strong relationship between the journalists and the visited area. The closer connection results in more vivid descriptions that can really inspire the readers to consider the destination next time a holiday is to be planned.

- You have to see it, to believe it! It is important for the media to feel, see and taste a destination, a hotel or a cruise before they write about it. Related organizes both individual and collective press trips, which in different ways result in unique stories about the destination, says PR consultant at Related, Karin Toftegaard Matthiesen.

The art of arranging the trip
Related sends numerous journalists on press trips annually and routine is important - for example, when composing the program.

- It takes experience and insight to organize press trips. The trips must be short, yet long enough to give the journalists dynamic experiences and interesting stories to take home. Every journalist must have a unique experience to create the best opportunities for media coverage. The press trips are arranged by the customer with input and support from Related, who is in charge of inviting and coordinating everything with the journalists, concludes Karin Toftegaard Matthiesen.
